Drawing is an indispensable tool for exploring any creative act, preparing an idea for another medium and creating finished statements intended to stand independently as works of art. This course will explore the visual character of pencil and ink, help students master the basic techniques required for monochromatic drawing and choose the materials and strategies to enhance their projects.

For first class bring an assortment of graphite drawing pencils HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, White Eraser, gum eraser, large sketchbook or a pad of 18”x24” newsprint paper. Other course materials will be discussed during the first class.
